Antistatic shoes are protective shoes to eliminate static accumulation of the human body and prevent electric shock of power supply below 250 V. With good electrical conductivity, conductive shoes can eliminate static accumulation of the human body in a short time, and they are protective shoes that can only be used for dangerous sites without electric shock. This is an important distinction from anti-static shoes. All anti-static shoes and conductive shoes should comply with the provisions of GB4385-1995 Technical Requirements for Anti-static Shoes and Conductive Shoes.
Use and precautions of anti-static shoes and conductive shoes
1. Both antistatic shoes and conductive shoes can eliminate the static accumulation of the human body, and can be used in inflammable and explosive workplaces. But the difference between the two kinds of shoes is that anti-static shoes can also prevent the electric shock of equipment with power supply below 250 V, while conductive shoes cannot be used for places with the risk of electric shock.
2. Although anti-static shoes can prevent electric shock, they can’t be used as insulated shoes.
3. When wearing anti-static shoes and conductive shoes, insulated thick woolen socks and insulated insoles shall not be worn together.
4. The floor of the places using anti-static shoes should be anti-static, while the floor of the places using conductive shoes should be conductive.
5. Anti-static shoes should be used together with anti-static clothing at the same time.
6. Resistance value test shall be conducted once within every 200 hours for antistatic shoes and conductive shoes during the process of wearing. If the resistance is not within the prescribed scope, they shall not be used as anti-static shoes or conductive shoes.
